Ashley Fathergill

Let me start off by saying "I Love Yoga". I started taking classes 9 years ago when I was having a hard time making friends in ABQ after moving here from Ohio. I left a life that I had spent 20+ years creating and the friendships were something I missed tremendously. I went to classes regularly in an effort to meet people and ended up falling in love with the practice! Through the years I would binge on the practice and then take small breaks from it. No matter where I was in my life, I always ended up coming back to my mat.  In June 2015, I decided to take a jump and enrolled in 200 hr Level 1 Ashtanga Teacher Training.  After receiving my certificate I then decided in September 2015 to start YogaZo so that I could bring classes to ABQ that were friendly for every level of Yogi and not intimidating.  Fast forward (through a lot of ups and downs) to the present time and YogaZo has taken a life that I couldn't have even imagined if I tried.  We are a close knit community that welcomes everyone from any walk of life.  Our goal of #yogagivingback has allowed us to donate over $37k and counting as well as given me the opportunity to meet a world of beautiful humans that I otherwise might not of had the chance to meet.

Curious about the name?

YogaZo is named after my sweet pup Zoey who unfortunately passed away in May of 2015 right before I became a certified Yoga Teacher.  She was constantly by my side even through my at home practice. She was and still is my favorite down dog!  When I lost her I wanted something that was so near and dear to my heart to still be a part of my day to day life, so here she is via YogaZo!

Charlotte Montoya
Instructor, RYT 200

I have discovered the power of yoga in my life and I love being able to share it with others! I have been practicing regularly for over five years and I constantly convince family, friends, acquaintances, and even strangers to try yoga and meditation to discover the benefits of the practice in their own lives. I also have experience teaching kids yoga, bellydance, and Zumba. In 2012, I completed the Street Yoga Trauma-Informed Teacher Training and YogaFit (R)  Kids! Teacher Training. In the spring of 2016, I completed the Mi Vida Yoga 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training, where I earned additional certifications in the areas of chair yoga, yin meditation, and Reiki I. I teach yoga with the intention of making it accessible to those that are unaware of its benefits, intimidated to practice, or are unable to access it otherwise. As a lifelong dancer, I also love music and thoroughly enjoy creating crazy yet fun playlists for the classes I teach. In addition to being a yogi who drinks, I am an early childhood educator, bellydancer, football coach's wife, and mother of two amazing and handsome teenage boys. 

Elena Corral

Elena believes that true health and joy is achieved through comprehensive care of the body, mind, and spirit. Elena leads her yoga classes with an open heart and welcomes students from all walks of life, in all stages of their practice, to join her in a mutual pursuit of balance and love. She particularly enjoys guiding fellow yogis in Yin, Yin Yang, and Vinyasa practices. Elena is a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) with Yoga Alliance. 

Calysta Camp

Yoga found its way into my life in January of 2016, immediately after earning my degree from UNM. As a business student, I never allowed any time for myself - just study, work, sleep, repeat. After graduation, I signed up for a monthly membership at a yoga studio and I have never not had a membership since. I am to the point now where I physically need yoga not just for my body but my mind as well.

In 2018, I decided to expand my yoga practice by enrolling in yoga teacher training. Teaching yoga allows me to share all the healing benefits that I received as a student in my early practice with others. In my class, you’ll find flowy sequences, fun music (I grew up on R&B and hip-hop ) and more importantly an accessible flow that encourages students to do as much or as little as they’d like. I am also a certified Hot Shakti Yoga® instructor so you may find yourself shaking, belly dancing, and using breathing and energy movement techniques in class as well. I love connecting with my students - on and off the mat – and can’t wait to flow, heal, and set and accomplish our intentions together.

Tabatha Bennett
Instructor, RYT 200

After years of people-pleasing and low self-esteem, Tabatha Bennett had become an over-achieving perfectionist. Once she discovered the magic of yoga, she learned to embrace imperfection, both on and off the mat. Through her practice, she lives vibrantly in the present moment and supports others to do the same. For over five years, Tabatha has been offering yoga classes as a tool for self-care and empowerment. She draws on her training in Ashtanga, Trauma-Informed, prenatal, meditation and yoga for youth to create a welcoming and positive environment that encourages all practitioners to connect and grow. You can find this native New Mexican running around with her son, basking in the sunshine, appreciating the Earth and
cultivating enchantment to make the entire universe feel more magical.

Elizabeth Kivlighan
Instructor 

I started practicing yoga once or twice a week when I moved to New Mexico in 2003. Yoga was a great way for me to stretch and recover between half marathons. In 2016, I moved to the Bay Area in search of a new beginning and a little inner peace, and decided that I’d look for it in a yoga studio. I checked into my hotel and went straight to the first available yoga class in town. Eventually, I decided to trade in my trail runners for a daily yoga practice, and started practicing with increased devotion and intention. 

 

I am now an avid yoga student, and having returned to the Land of Enchantment, I’ve continued to grow my practice with YogaZo over the last few years. I love to experiment with different types of yoga in my personal practice including Ashtanga, Bhakti, Buti and Primal. I’ve also started a personal meditation practice that incorporates aspects from Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Loving Kindness, Zen and Spirit Animal teachings. In 2019, I decided to deepen my knowledge of yoga and completed YogaZo’s very first 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT). I’ve really enjoyed learning more about alignment and I love putting together flows that help students grow in both strength and confidence. YogoZo has helped me grow both as a yogi and now a teacher, and I am so honored to share my knowledge and love of yoga with you as YogaZo’s newest intern.

Alexandra Padilla
Guest Instructor 

Alexandra Padilla was born and raised in Albuquerque. After high school, Alex decided to move to Colorado Springs to pursue her Bachelor’s in Philosophy. In college, Alex went to her first yoga class and instantly fell in love. After a couple of years of practice, she decided to pursue her love of yoga and got her 200-hour certificate in power vinyasa in Colorado Springs. She is a lifelong yoga student and has certificates and internships in chair, yin, restorative, and kid’s yoga. Alex’s classes focus on the connection of breath and movement with an emphasis on alignment. She is currently getting her Master’s in Social Work and one day hopes to combine the healing breathe and movement with therapy to help other’s heal through yoga.  When she is not teaching or practicing yoga, Alex enjoys hiking, belly dancing, and drinking good beer!

Cat Jones
Guest Instructor 

Catharine "Cat" Jones received her 200 hour Hatha yoga certification from Shoshoni, an ashram in Colorado in 2013. A dancer, tri-athlete, and altogether a sporty person, yoga was not always an essential part of Cat's routine. After a motorcycle accident fractured a couple bones in her my ankle, she surrendered to what yoga had to offer - to slow down and heal. She discovered the mental and physical healing power of the practice, and the added bonus of a deeper connection to spirituality. A life rich in love, abundance and compassion are the aspects Cat infuses into her classes, mediation, chakra balancing and workshops. Off the mat Cat enjoys making movies and taking aura photos at Aura Photo NM.
